Hobsons Brewery: Sustainable Tasting Room

In April 2014 we opened a new facility at the brewery to host brewery trips and special events. Our vision is to create an enhanced visitor experience of Hobsons Brewery and Cleobury Mortimer by developing a sustainable tasting room working in collaboration with local partners.

The project received £50,000 worth of funding from Defra's Rural Development Programme for England and was officially opened on 2nd April by Rural Affairs Minister Dan Rogerson. The new building located to the side of the brewery has a bar tasting area, state of the art kitchen, AV equipment and seating for 24-30 people.The new building will allow us to open up the brewery to more groups and enhance their visit with a food offering.

The multifaceted facility has been constructed by local tradesmen using locally sourced materials. The sympathetic design encompasses natural materials and sustainable technologies to give a light modern feel to the room. The building has been constructed with Gabions utilising local Cleehill stone offering high levels of insulation and low energy use, the existing ground source heating system has also been installed in the new centre.
